About MET Parking Services
MET Parking Services Ltd manages short-stay car parks for fast food restaurants, hotels and retail units, and is a member of the British Parking Association (BPA).
Because its sites usually allow only 45 to 60 minutes, charges are often issued to genuine customers who stayed slightly too long or who visited a neighbouring business.
How MET Parking operates
- Short maximum stay periods are enforced on site.
- ANPR and patrols identify vehicles in breach.
- PCNs are posted to the registered keeper.
- As a BPA member, rejected appeals can be escalated free to POPLA.
- The venue on site can often request cancellation.
Common reasons they issue charges
- • Exceeding a 45 or 60 minute maximum stay
- • Parking while visiting a neighbouring business
- • Hotel guest not registered by reception
- • Overnight parking without authorisation
PCN process: what to expect
1. PCN Issued
A Parking Charge Notice is issued to the registered keeper, usually with a discounted amount for early payment.
2. Reminder Notices
If unpaid and unappealed, reminder letters follow and the discount is withdrawn.
3. Debt Recovery
The case may be passed to a debt recovery agent, who often add their own fees.
4. Legal Action
As a last step a County Court claim can be issued. It can still be defended on the merits.
